Family Medicine Practice - Staff

Program Director

Dr. Pejic is a board certified family medicine physician and is the program director for the Family Medicine Practice. He was previously the director of the Family Medicine Clerkship at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he treated a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions in both children and adults. He has a special interest in men's health and complex lipid disorders.

Pejic received his undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and later earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. During his medical school tenure, Dr. Pejic was elected to the medical honor society AOA. After finishing medical school, Dr. Pejic completed his family medicine residency at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica California. He completed a family medicine faculty development fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill and his Masters in Medical Management at Tulane University School of Public Health.

Richard BridgesRichard Bridges, MD

Dr. Bridges received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology and a Masters of Natural Sciences from
Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He then completed a bachelor’s in Medical Technologies from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program in 2014.
Dr. Bridges is an active member of American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (where he serves as Vice-President and Director of Legislative Affairs), Louisiana State Medical Society, and Jefferson Parish Medical Society. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In his free time he enjoys LSU sporting events, cooking, hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Jessica Gilbert-SlipmanJessica Gilbert-Slipman, DO

Dr. Jessica Gilbert-Slipman graduated from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014 and completed her residency at East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine.

In addition to treating patients of all ages with traditional, evidence based medicine, her professional interests include integrating osteopathic manipulative therapy in patient care to help address a wide range of medical issues including musculoskeletal pain.

In her free time, she enjoys antiquing and outings with her husband and their small dog Itchy.

Kevin RussKevin Russ, MD

Dr. Kevin Russ graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 1979. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. His professional interests include hospital medicine, Electronic Medical Record operations and resident education. In his free time, Dr. Russ enjoys live music and playing golf.

Robert C. RyanRobert C. Ryan, MD

Dr. Robert Combel Ryan graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine Health Sciences Center, New Orleans in 1974. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. His professional interests include musculoskeletal and sports injuries as well as urgent care. Dr. Ryan is former active duty military and spends his free time running and spending time with his large extended family.

Dr. Ryan is a member in the following organizations: member and Past Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine for the East Jefferson General Hospital Medical Staff, Past Secretary for the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana State Medical Society and the Jefferson Parish Medical Society.

Brittany TavBrittany Tav, MD

Dr. Brittany Tav completed her residency at the East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in 2018 and is a graduate of Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine.
Her professional interests include preventative medicine and treating people with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. She also enjoys performing in-office procedures.
In her free time, Dr. Tav enjoys entertaining and exploring new restaurants in the city with her husband, spoiling her son and her two large-breed dogs, and spending time with family and friends.

Amy Galiano

Amy Galiano, MD

Dr. Amy Galiano grew up in the Baton Rouge area. She attended Louisiana State University where she studied biochemistry. Upon graduating with a Bachelor's degree, she moved to New Orleans to attend LSUHSC School of Medicine. During medical school, she found a passion for primary care which led her to complete a family medicine residency at East Jefferson General Hospital. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Residency fostered her love of preventative medicine, complex chronic disease management, and teaching medicine. She now joins the program as a faculty member in fall of 2022. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to live music, cooking, and watching sports (Who Dat, Geaux Tigers, Go Pels, Go Braves).

Lamia AbiSamra

Lamia AbiSamra, MD

Dr. AbiSamra received her bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology as well as Political Sciences from Tulane University in New Orleans. She graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 2019. She completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She completed a surgical obstetrics fellowship in advanced maternal and child health at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. AbiSamra is also board certified in family medicine.

Dr. AbiSamra has served on the Perinatal Services Committee and participates in safety monitoring and initiatives for labor and delivery and newborn care. Dr. AbiSamra has participated in numerous quality improvement research projects and has contributed clinical poster submissions and likes to be involved in community service.

Amy Sandridge, MSPH, PhD, LCSW

Dr. Sandridge received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College. She received her Master of Science in Public Health - Epidemiology at the University of Massachusetts in 1991. Dr. Sandridge received her Doctor of Philosophy – Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2007. She received her Master’s in Social Work from Tulane University, School of Social Work in 2015. She has authored numerous publications as well as conducted research and created numerous presentations and abstracts.
Dr. Sandridge is an active member of the Tulane University School of Social Work Alumni Association (President). Other community activities include being a Distinguished Toastmaster and member of the Business & Professional Toastmasters Club. In her free time Dr. Sandridge enjoys reading, gardening, and flying a Cessna 172 out of Lakefront Airport.

Cody Bushyhead,Cody Bushyhead, MD

Dr. Cody Bushyhead was born and raised in Tulsa, OK. He attended Oral Roberts University for undergraduate studies and earned degrees in medical molecular biology and government. Cody moved to Oklahoma City, OK to attend the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He wanted a career that allowed him to see a wide variety of patients and the opportunity to pursue fellowship training, work in an ambulatory setting, or work as a hospitalist. Cody always knew that he wanted to leave Oklahoma at some point in his life, and moving to New Orleans for residency training at East Jefferson has been a wonderful experience.

Prabhdeep KhunkhunPrabhdeep Khunkhun, MD

Dr. Prabhdeep Khunkhun is from San Jose, California and attended University of California, San Diego for undergrad where she received a BS in Human Biology. After graduating she worked as a medical assistant in an IVF clinic where she found her passion for women’s health. This path eventually took her to the University of Queensland School of Medicine and Ochsner Medical Center. She was drawn to EJGH by the dedication to community, supportive faculty, and strong inpatient and outpatient training. My professional interests include women’s health, preventative medicine, and health equity. When not in clinic or the hospital, I can usually be found baking chocolate chip cookies, taking my dog to the levee, or reading a good book!

Jay NapolitanoJay Napolitano, DO

Dr. Jay Napolitano was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. After attending Jesuit High School, he completed his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University. He returned back to New Orleans to teach chemistry and coach soccer at Jesuit High School. In the following year, he taught middle school science. While he loved teaching, he continued to pursue his dream of becoming a physician by attending William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He quickly realized that family medicine involved the same aspects of teaching that he enjoyed the most -- forming relationships and working within the community. Family practice at EJGH was the perfect fit for him.

Andrew OraczAndrew Oracz, MD

Dr. Oracz is a native New Yorker transplanted to New Orleans in 2004 to attend Tulane University. Dr. Oracz served on active duty in the US Army in Military Intelligence and Aviation before finding his way back to New Orleans with his wife, Ashley. They enjoy all of the finer things life in NOLA has to offer at their uptown home with three dogs. Dr. Oracz earned a Master's of Science in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University prior to matriculating at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Throughout his premedical career and medical education, he has pursued a variety of international opportunities to aid underserved communities abroad.

Natasha RezvaniNatasha Rezvani, MD

Dr. Natasha Rezvani is originally from the Baltimore metro area but after attending Tulane University and LSU Schools of Medicine she feels more at home here in New Orleans. Her medical training has been slightly circuitous having completed an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology before landing at EJGH, but she couldn't be happier in Family Medicine and at East Jefferson. She is excited to expand her knowledge of a variety of disease processes in a diverse patient population. Dr. Rezvani plans to practice holistic primary care in the rural setting, and hopefully encompass international work at some point in the future. When she is not at the hospital you can find her hiking with her dogs, Henry and Otis, oil painting or planning weekend trips to Vermont to visit her family.

Steven Vo

Steven Vo, DO

Dr. Steven Vo is from the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. He completed his undergraduate degree at Tulane University prior to attending William Carey University College of Medicine in Mississippi. His interests in Family Medicine lie in community medicine and palliative care. He enjoys basketball, cars, and fishing.

Dr. Joseph Caravella

Dr. Joseph Caravella is a proud Louisiana native who grew up in Mid-City New Orleans. He completed his undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, then moved to Hattiesburg, MS where he graduated from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is very excited to be back home at the East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program so that he can work with and give back to the community that raised him. He is ready to learn as much as possible during his residency so that he can achieve his goal of one day becoming a well-rounded primary care physician.

Dr. Jordan Coffey

Dr. Jordan Coffey is originally from Rochester, New York where she received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at State University of New York at Geneseo. She then moved for medical school to a much warmer climate (with much less snow) in Hattiesburg, MS where she attended William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She loved working with the Greater New Orleans population so much that she wanted to remain in New Orleans for her Family Medicine residency. Her focus is becoming a well-rounded outpatient physician with special attention on women’s health and rural medicine. When she isn’t working, she loves to bake, garden, take walks in City Park, and practice yoga.

Dr. Marcus Davis

Dr. Marcus Davis was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Country Day High School and graduated from Louisiana State University. After working as a medical scribe for a year, he continued his journey of becoming a physician by attending medical school at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Following two years overseas, he completed his clinical rotations in New Orleans at Ochsner Medical Center, during which he developed a strong passion for family medicine. Training at EJGH was a dream come true for Dr. Davis. He is excited to continue caring for the New Orleans community in a friendly and supportive environment that is EJGH Family Med, while at the same time keep up with his love for fishing and being outdoors.

Dr. Hannah Day

Dr. Hannah Day is originally from Galveston, Texas. She completed her undergraduate degree in Bio-engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas. After moving to New Orleans and falling in love with the city, she decided to attend Tulane School of Medicine. Her interests in Family Medicine include women's health and integrative medicine. When she is not at the hospital, you can find her cooking, doing jigsaw puzzles, or spending time with her dog, Gumbo.

Dr. Jackson Weaver

Dr Jackson Weaver is from Little Rock, AR. He attended undergrad at the University of Arkansas and then medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He always wanted to be a family physician because of the connection to the community and providing lifelong care. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Razorbacks.

Dr. Westmoreland

Dr. Westmoreland is from rural South Carolina and graduated from the USC-Aiken with a BS in Biology. Dr. Westmoreland worked as a research technician at the Medical College of Georgia prior to attending Vanderbilt University, where he received a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology. Following graduate school, Dr. Westmoreland completed a post-doctoral fellowship at

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, where he worked on schizophrenia models. He then became a junior faculty member in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology and the Neuroscience Program at Tulane University. He attended Tulane for medical school. After completing a rotation at EJGH, he was drawn to the program due to its commitment to the community and the supportive faculty. In his spare time, Dr. Westmoreland enjoys spending time with his wife and twin daughters, and wood working.

​Austin Adomitis, MD

Dr. Austin Adomitis is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine. He was a member of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity, Omicron Chapter Ambassador. Part of his volunteer experience includes bring the lead drummer for the band Celiac Funk, which participated in many charitable causes. He was also an assistant coach for the Miracle league of New Orleans, which promotes the health and well-being of children with disabilities. Before his medical training, Dr. Adomitis enhanced his communication skills in the theatre on stages in New York, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and New Orleans.

Thorkell “Thor” Einarsson, MD

Dr. Thorkell Einarsson is from Iceland and graduated from the University of Iceland Faculty of Medicine located in Reykjavík. As a medical student, he has conducted research projects on wrist fractures as well as sarcomas of the trunk wall and extremities. Dr. Einarsson participated in numerous volunteer activities with several organizations in Iceland. He, his wife, and young daughter now reside in New Orleans. His hobbies include hiking, camping as well jogging and lifting weights.

Caila Knighton, MD

Dr. Caila Knighton grew up in Baker, Louisiana and graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She is a member of numerous honorary and professional societies and has participated in several research projects including incidence of autoimmune disease as well as quality improvement projects for adolescent inpatient behavioral units. Dr. Knighton has also created several poster presentations and her hobbies include painting, gardening, interior decorating and crocheting.

Alyssa “Ally” Ross, DO

Dr. Alyssa “Ally” Ross grew up in Pointe Au Chenes, Louisiana. She is a graduate of the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM) and worked as a student researcher at both Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine and at Nicholls State University. While at ARCOM, Dr. Ross served as president of the ARCOM Chapter of the Student Osteopathic Surgical Association. She has also created several poster and oral presentations and her hobbies include hunting, working out, playing pickleball, and traveling.

James Vu, MD

Dr. James Vu grew up in Kenner, Louisiana. His passion for medicine began with his own family doctor who he shadowed while in his undergraduate years. Eventually, he received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He also received his master’s in public health at Tulane University School of Public Health. He had inspiring mentors in Family Medicine that propelled him to pursue the same field. He chose East Jefferson for residency because he not only saw the unique camaraderie and wisdom of its residents and attendings but also the compassionate care they provide for patients. It was akin to his late father's kindness and understanding exhibited to him in his childhood. He has volunteer experience included such organizations as Vietnamese American Tutoring & Education Program, Asian Pacific American Program in the Westbank, Tulane Learning Communities, the Salvation Army and Ozanam Inn. His professional interests include outpatient medicine, medical management, team building, and community medicine. Dr. Vu enjoys weightlifting, watching penguins, learning how to read and speak the Vietnamese language, as well as spending quality time with his long-time partner.

Chandler Young, DO

Dr. Chandler Young grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has memberships in numerous honorary and professional memberships. Dr. Young also served as Vice President of William Carey’s branch of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. Volunteer duties include serving as a researcher and a scribe. He has also created several poster and oral presentations and his hobbies include music utilizing the guitar, piano, bass guitar and drums. Dr. Young also enjoys gardening as well as the New Orleans Pelicans.

David Potter

David has been a Team Member at East Jefferson General Hospital since June of 1990. He started out as Continuing Medical Education Coordinator as well as additional duties in Graduate Medical Education and Institutional Review Board before accepting the position of Program Manager for East Jefferson General Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in July 2022. David has incorporated his networking and planning skills over the years with the EJGH Medical Staff into working the day-to-day operations with the family medicine residents and faculty. For hobbies, he enjoys sports, singing as well as weekend radio work for WWL in New Orleans.

Lisa Manno

Lisa Manno is a New Orleans native with a B.A. in Communications from the University of New Orleans. She has been a team member with East Jefferson General Hospital since 2012, with the past four years as Scheduling Coordinator for the Family Medicine Residency Program and most recently adding the role of Program Coordinator for the Podiatric Residency Program. She enjoys the opportunity to meet new residents each year, and assist them on their journey throughout their three years of residency. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, fitness, trips to Disney World, and most of all spending time with her family and Siamese cat Violet.
