How it works

When an athlete enters the Center for Sport program, he or she will be connected with a personal case manager who is also a certified athletic trainer. This case manager will be the key contact and guide through evaluation, treatment and follow-up, from making travel arrangements for visiting the center to arranging continuing care into the future.

During the initial evaluation, the case manager will learn about the specific, personal needs of the athlete and will create a create a comprehensive plan, including:

  • Medical testing, evaluation and treatment
  • Consultation with our legal and financial experts
  • Mental health assessment and counseling
  • Planning for degree completion or other goals

The case manager remains available for support, information and guidance. Once the athlete returns home, the case manager will:

  • Keep in touch through phone calls, video conferencing and other correspondence
  • Track progress and arrange more visits as needed
  • Find services and resources in the athlete’s home town to help meet physical, mental, legal and professional needs
