Our mission
The Medical Staff Office is dedicated to assisting us in our goal to deliver the highest quality patient care. That’s why our professional healthcare providers have credentials from the Governing Board.
The medical staff office
The Medical Staff Office responsibility is to ensure the credentialing and privileging processes are in compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, The State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), The Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
In addition, the Medical Staff Office manages and coordinates all initial and reappointment applications, medical staff committees, emergency department on-call schedules, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and provides support to the medical staff.
Credentialing & clinical privileging
These processes are formal recognition and attestation that a professional healthcare provider applying for membership and/or clinical privileges is qualified and competent to perform the clinical privileges requested. Credentialing verifies that a professional healthcare provider meets the qualifications, as determined by our Governing Board, by reviewing such items as the individual’s license, experience, certification, education, training, malpractice and adverse clinical occurrences, clinical judgment, and character by investigation and observation. Clinical Privileging defines the scope of practice and the clinical services he or she may provide. Clinical Privileging is based on demonstrated competence and is a data driven process.
A Professional Healthcare Provider interested in applying for membership and/or clinical privileges is required to submit the pre-application. If the Professional Healthcare Provider meets the Governing Board’s eligibility requirements, the Medical Staff Office will send to the Professional Healthcare Provider instructions and website link to complete the on-line initial application.
The following professional healthcare providers that hold a current license in the State of Louisiana and meets the eligibility requirements may apply for medical staff membership and/or clinical privileges:
- MD, DO, DDS, DPM
- Physician Assistant (PA)
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)
- Nurse Practitioners (NP)
- Clinical Psychologists (Ph.D.)
Note: A professional allied healthcare provider who provides direct patient care must be under the direct supervision of a member of our medical staff who holds current clinical privileges.
