Robotic pyeloplasty
Robotic pyeloplasty
This minimally invasive surgical procedure can help treat narrowed or blocked ureteropelvic junction.
What is robotic pyeloplasty?
Robotic pyeloplasty is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is used to correct narrowed or blocked ureteropelvic junction (UPJ).
UPJ is a condition where a blockage forms at the point where the ureter (a thin tube that carriers urine from kidney to bladder) attaches to the kidney. UPJ can restrict the flow of urine into the bladder, causing excessive pressure inside the kidney.
During a robotic pyeloplasty procedure, your surgeon will use precise robotic surgical tools to fix the blockage. Compared to traditional surgery, robotic surgery benefits include:
- Faster recovery
- Less bleeding
- Less pain
- Shorter hospital stays
