About Heather
Heather Brooks is a board-certified nurse practitioner with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She joined UMC in 2019 and partners with the organization’s trauma services in the care of hospitalized older adults. She began accumulating her professional healthcare experience as a registered nurse upon completion of her undergraduate degree in 2004. She has been working as a nurse practitioner since 2012 after receiving her master’s degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. Her doctoral nursing degree was awarded in 2023 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Dr. Brooks is active on several UMC councils and committees. She co-chairs the Nursing Research Evidence-Based Practice Council and serves as the site coordinator for the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) program. She is passionate about working with special patient populations and providing high-quality patient-centered care.
My Little Something Extra: Dr. Brooks enjoys being a mother, spending time with her family, and taking road trips to explore new places.
