Important information

New patient and telehealth visits available online

You can now meet our physicians and staff via telehealth and start your weight-loss journey from the comfort of home. Our free, introductory "new patient" classes are now offered via Zoom, and they provide a great opportunity to see if weight-loss surgery is the right choice for you. And established patients now have the option of seeing our physicians with a virtual visit for most pre- and post-operative appointments.

We are inspired every day by the patients in and around New Orleans, Louisiana, who decide to have bariatric weight-loss surgery and transform their lives. There are patients who start running marathons and others that decide to start a family. Some patients find new joy in shopping for clothes or in playing with their kids and pets. No matter what your goal, we’re here to help.

At our Bariatric Center, we strive for clinical excellence – focusing on patient outcomes and safety. That’s why we are recognized as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®). Our team consists of a surgeon with advanced training in weight-loss surgery, a medical physician who helps treat diseases associated with obesity, a psychologist, a dietitian and a bariatric nurse coordinator who are all dedicated to bariatric patients.

Being overweight is not something to be ashamed of – it is a chronic medical condition that often warrants medical and surgical help. However, weight-loss surgery is something we do not take lightly, and not every patient will be a candidate.

We accept most commercial and Medicare insurance plans, and some insurance providers and employers provide special coverage for bariatric surgery.

More than a procedure

Your actual bariatric surgery is just one part of your weight-loss journey. That's why our Bariatric Center provides support before and after your procedure to ensure you have all the resources you need to make healthy changes to your lifestyle.

You will meet for one-on-one sessions with our staff registered dietician at each monthly clinic visit, both before and after your surgery. And we offer additional dietary education online, as well.

You will also have the benefit of both online and in-person support groups with others who are going through the same process as you. The online support group allows our Bariatric Center patients to ask questions, share recipes and celebrate successes as a community, and the in-person sessions feature monthly guest speakers such as personal trainers, social workers and councilors.
