Personalized Rehabilitation Therapy

One of Woldenberg Village's unique offerings is Touro’s outpatient occupational, physical, and speech therapists located right here on our retirement campus. Following a return from the hospital, if our residents need rehabilitation services, the outpatient rehabilitation center can evaluate functional abilities and assist with rehabilitation needs such as mobility, daily tasks, communication skills, and swallowing function. Activities directed by our therapists will assist in maximizing independence as much as possible, with the ultimate goal of returning the individual to their previous level of function.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy addresses neurological, orthopedic, and general medical conditions that impede self-care. Goals are developed to work toward independence in bathing, grooming, toileting, and home care through strengthening flexibility, cognitive/perceptual training, fine motor coordination, and participation in activities of daily living such as (cooking, cleaning, and finance management). Therapy techniques include deficit remediation and/or compensatory strategies such as adaptive equipment.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy provides geriatric therapy services neurologica, orthopedic, and general medical conditions that impair mobility. Individualized physical therapy goals are developed that include improving coordination, stability, and strengthening ambulation for transfers, wheelchair skills, bed mobility, balance, and participation in activities that encourage normal daily function.

Speech therapy

Speech therapy provides specialized services to patients with neurological and general medical conditions that impair swallowing, cognition, and language skills. Individualized speech therapy goals are developed to advance texture of diets (puree, chopped, regular, consistency of liquids), move from PEG feedings back to oral feedings, and determine need for further swallow diagnostic testing. Speech therapy also addresses the ability to speak clearly, follow written and verbal directions, find the correct words, memory, attention, and other areas that can disrupt communication.
