Tulane Medical Center physician Dr. Aaron Dumont edits book on cerebrovascular malformations

Dr. Aaron Dumont, director of the Tulane Neuroscience Center as well as the Charles B. Wilson Professor and director of the Tulane Center for Clinical Neurosciences at Tulane University School of Medicine, has edited a book on cerebrovascular malformations, which are abnormal blood vessel formations in the brain.

The book, Brain Arteriovenous Malformations and Arteriovenous Fistulas, was published by Thieme. It is considered an essential guide about cerebrovascular malformations that will benefit trainees and experienced neurosurgeons.

With contributions from internationally renowned experts, this book encompasses state-of-the-art management of intracranial arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and arteriovenous fistulas (AVF), including microsurgery, endovascular and radiosurgery treatment approaches. The book includes step-by-step tutorials and classification systems for brain AVMs and fistulas, complemented by experts’ insights based on case studies, surgical expertise and evidence-based data.

Dr. Dumont is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has interests in all areas of pediatric and adult neurosurgery including stroke and cerebrovascular disease, spine disorders, movement disorders, epilepsy, peripheral nerve disease, radiosurgery and tumors of the brain and spine. He is dually trained in open traditional microsurgery and minimally invasive endovascular surgery for vascular disorders of the brain and spine.

Dr. Dumont’s co-editors of the book are Dr. Giuseppe Lanzino, professor of neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic, and Dr. Jason P. Sheehan, vice chair and Harrison Distinguished professor of neurological surgery at University of Virginia.
