McSwain First Responders Clinic

The McSwain First Responders Clinic serves as a primary care clinic for all New Orleans first responders, including New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) and local emergency medical services (EMS) providers. Both work-related and personal illnesses and injuries are evaluated and treated by the clinic team. Walk-in patients from NOPD, NOFD and EMS are welcome Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The McSwain First Responders Clinic recently moved to Tulane Orthopedics Clinic on the fourth floor of Tulane Medical Center. In addition to relocating, the clinic has expanded hours of operation and added a first responder nurse navigator.

The medical team also includes a Tulane orthopedic trauma surgeon, a physician assistant and an orthopedic nurse navigator.

The clinic is named for Dr. Norman McSwain, a pioneer in the field of trauma medicine, who served as the New Orleans police surgeon for more than 30 years before he passed away in July 2015. He had a close relationship with all first responders; working alongside them in the field, teaching them and caring for them.
