NEW ORLEANS, LA – New Orleans East Hospital is proud to announce that it has been recognized as Hospital of the Year (60 beds or less) by the Louisiana State Nurses Association at the 2025 Nightingale Awards. This prestigious honor recognizes New Orleans East Hospital's deep commitment to nursing values, excellence in professional care, and status as a vital community and economic anchor in Eastern New Orleans.
Since its establishment as the first full-service hospital in the region since Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans East Hospital has set a standard for patient care and community advocacy. The award specifically highlights the hospital’s unique service approach, which prioritizes the health and well-being of the communities they serve, including New Orleans East, Gentilly, St. Bernard, and the Lower Ninth Ward.
“Being named Hospital of the Year (60 bed or less) is an extraordinary moment for our entire New Orleans East Hospital family,” said Dr. Takesha Davis, President and CEO of New Orleans East Hospital. “This award is a powerful testament to the tireless efforts of our nurses, physicians, and support staff, whose dedication to continued education and genuine care ensures every patient receives the best possible service when they need it most. Our success is rooted in our role as a trusted partner in the health and revitalization of our community.”
CJ Marbley, Chief Nursing Officer, added: “This ‘Hospital of the Year’ award from the Louisiana State Nurses Association is a testament to our entire clinical team's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care. Our nurses are patient advocates, clinical leaders, and the heart of this organization. This recognition fuels our commitment to continuous quality improvement and advancing professional nursing practice across New Orleans East.”
The hospital's distinction acknowledges its leadership in maintaining national healthcare standards while prioritizing well care in addition to sick care, exemplified by its Community Outreach Team of dedicated nurses who serve neighborhoods across New Orleans.
“We strive for excellence in everything we do and are committed to providing a healing environment that extends beyond clinical treatment,” Dr. Davis also noted. “This recognition reaffirms our mission to pursuing excellence and providing high-quality, patient-centered care for all.”
New Orleans East Hospital continues to demonstrate its impactful presence through quality healthcare and its focus to improve the health and economic strength of the surrounding neighborhoods.
