Primary Care

Treating you Like Family Is the Only Way We Know.

New Orleans East Clinic is dedicated to meeting the needs of our community members. Here, every member of our primary care team is dedicated to delivering high quality care to promote lifelong health and wellness.

What is a primary care provider?

Primary care providers are sometimes called internists or family medicine doctors, and they are the doctor’s office you call to make an appointment with any non-urgent concerns or questions. These providers offer annual physical exams, medical treatment, preventative care, and they monitor chronic conditions. They are also responsible for referring patients to specialists such as cardiologists, endocrinologists, or oncologists, among others, when necessary. The primary care provider you see focuses on your overall health, including physical, emotional, or mental health, in one centralized location.

Examples of services a primary care doctor can provide include:

  • Physical exams
  • Rashes
  • Stomachaches
  • Headaches
  • Minor injuries
  • Joint pain
  • Respiratory infections
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Chronic condition follow-ups
  • Medication consults
  • Medicare annual wellness visits
  • Pediatric check-ups

Hospitalist program

A hospitalist is a physician who oversees your treatment while you are an inpatient at our hospital. These board-certified internists manage your care at our facility while coordinating with any specialists needed in your treatment. Our on-staff physicians’ primary focus is to ensure the delivery of medical care to our inpatients by coordinating a patient’s care within our hospital and from our hospital to the community, which may include post-acute care facilities. Members of our hospital team include highly knowledgeable physicians, nurse practitioners, and other specialists.

Upon discharge from our hospital, your hospitalist will maintain ongoing communication with your primary care provider for continued follow-up treatment and care.
