NEW ORLEANS EAST HOSPITAL SCORES SECOND CONSECUTIVE “A” AS TOP-TIER LEAPFROG HOSPITAL SAFETY DESIGNATION

New Orleans East Hospital is pleased to announce its second consecutive designation as an "A" Grade medical facility, according to Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. The "A" grade is the highest distinction awarded by The Leapfrog Group, placing New Orleans East Hospital among the safest hospitals in the nation.

“This second consecutive ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog is more than an honor,” said Dr. Takeisha Davis, President and CEO of New Orleans East Hospital. “It is a powerful affirmation of our commitment to hospital safety, while serving our patients and this community with the highest standard and quality of clinical care. Earning this distinction once is significant. However, earning it twice, consecutively, underscores the extraordinary dedication of every team member who puts patient safety at the center of their work every single day.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U. S. health system. Its goal is to report patient safety and quality information to the public, to assist consumers, purchasers and referring physicians in decision making when seeking care for patients.

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades (formerly known as Hospital Safety Scores) are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice annually. The safety grade is the gold standard measure of patient safety, cited in MSNBC, The New York Times, and AARP The Magazine. Scoring is based on over 32 performance measures, analyzed data, and determined weight of each measure based on evidence, opportunity for improvement and impact. The safety grade places each measure into one of two domains: Process/Structural Measures or Outcome Measures, each accounting for 50 percent of the overall score.
