Baby-friendly
The Metairie hospital has also received national recognition as a Baby-Friendly designated birth center. We are one of just five hospitals in Louisiana with this specialty designation and one of the first in the New Orleans area. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding.
GIFT certified
The nationally-recognized hospital has also been GIFT-certified since 2008. The GIFT is an evidence-based program for Louisiana birthing centers designed to increase breastfeeding rates and hospital success by improving the quality of maternity services and enhancing patient-centered care.
