My father was brain dead from a MVA in 1992. We found out 7 days after his accident and after seeking a 2nd opinion. My siblings, mother and myself were approached by LOPA during his hospitalization and decided to donate his organs. Initially, not everyone in the family was supportive of this decision. We felt that we had the opportunity to save someone else's life and that our father could live on through others. Just a few months after, we received an update on the people who received my dad's organs. And a year later, my dad's younger brother was the recipient of a heart transplant and over 22 years later is still living a productive life.
