On August 1, 2025, University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC) will celebrate a major milestone – 10 years of service to the people of New Orleans and the entire Gulf South region. This anniversary reflects more than a decade of lifesaving care – it honors a legacy that extends back to Charity Hospital, reaffirming our commitment to care for all – clinical excellence, transformational innovation, community engagement, cutting-edge research, and cultural connection, regardless of circumstance.
Since opening its doors in 2015, UMC has become a leader in healthcare with clinical trials and academic medicine, and a vital resource for community service and public health. As the region’s only safety net hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center, and Verified Burn Center, UMC has shaped what it means to be a modern academic medical center by advancing healthcare and creating access.
