Celebrating 10 years of University Medical Center
On August 1, 2025, University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC) celebrated a major milestone – 10 years of service to the people of New Orleans and the entire Gulf South region. While this anniversary marks a decade of lifesaving care, it also honors a much longer legacy, one that extends back to Charity Hospital, as we reaffirm our commitment to care for all – clinical excellence, transformational innovation, community engagement, cutting-edge research, and cultural connection – regardless of circumstance.
Since opening our doors in 2015, UMC has become a leader in healthcare, robust academic medicine, and exciting clinical trials, as well as a vital resource for community service and public health. As the region’s only safety net hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center, and Verified Burn Center, UMC has led the charge in advancing healthcare and creating access in our region, shaping what it means to be a modern academic medical center.
