At University Medical Center New Orleans, we deliver comprehensive and specialized rehabilitation services for patients across a wide range of medical needs—from trauma recovery to complex neurological conditions. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we care for patients with serious and urgent needs, offering evidence-based therapy led by specialists in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Language Pathology.
Our rehabilitation team works closely with physicians, surgeons, and PM&R (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care—focused on restoring function, improving quality of life, and achieving the highest level of independence possible.

Speech therapy
Our Speech-Language Pathology team provides personalized care for individuals with communication, cognitive, voice, and swallowing challenges related to stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, or cancer treatment. In addition to traditional speech therapy, we offer a range of specialized treatments and evaluations to address complex medical needs and improve quality of life.
Occupational therapy
We provide comprehensive occupational therapy services tailored to support patients in regaining function, independence, and quality of life. Our experienced team offers specialized care for a wide range of conditions, including hand and upper extremity injuries, neurological disorders, breast cancer recovery, and lymphedema management. We also provide general outpatient occupational therapy to address everyday functional challenges. With advanced techniques and specialized training from a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT), we deliver personalized treatment plans that are both evidence-based and patient-centered—helping you get back to the activities that matter most.
