We-Go Cancer Fighters awarded $11,000 contribution

We-Go Cancer Fighters awarded an $11,000 contribution to the West Jefferson hospital Foundation. The donation is earmarked to support cancer research programs at the West Jefferson Medical Center Cancer Center.

Charlotte Falgout and Ronnie Dufrene, founders of We-Go Cancer Fighters, a 501(c)(3) public charity, presented the donation at the Cancer Center’s Tree of Life to Susan Trantham, Executive Director of the WJ Hospital Foundation and WJMC Oncology Clinic physician James Ellis, MD, with Director of Oncology Services, Vanessa Batson Adams, RN, BSN, and Cancer Center Director Lori Dean, RN, BSN, OCN.

“We-Go Cancer Fighters will be formally recognized on the brass Tree of Life in the WJMC Cancer Center,” said Susan Trantham. “We are grateful for all the hard work We-Go Cancer Fighters put into their annual event to support cancer research. It is truly a labor of love and WJ Hospital Foundation is honored to be the recipients of their generosity.”

“Research is a vital element in discovering new and better treatments for the community we serve. We know the dedication that's involved in fundraising for cancer patients,” commented Lori Dean, RN, BSN, OCN. “We are truly humbled by the We-Go Cancer-Fighters mission and appreciate their kindness and generosity.”

Now in its fourth year, We-Go Cancer Fighters, hold an annual cancer research fundraiser in Westwego to raise awareness and funds to support research to find better ways of treating and curing cancer. Through sponsorships, ticket sales, raffles, and auctions, Ms. Falgout and Mr. Dufrene continue to join forces to make an impact in cancer research right here at home.

“We-Go Cancer Fighters are a group of dedicated supporters who hope to one-day end cancer. We work year-round for our event and donate 100% to cancer research. It is culminated with a parade of very proud cancer survivors to our event with food, music and fun,” said Charlotte Falgout. “Join us and help us to one day end this horrible disease”

Chris Breaux, President of the WJ Hospital Foundation commented, “We greatly appreciate this gift and on behalf of our board and patients we wish We-Go Cancer Fighters continued success in their fundraising and community endeavors. Private support is so important to helping to treat and find cures for cancer—we are grateful for their support.”

The We-Go Cancer Fighters 4th annual Cancer Research Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Westwego Farmers Market.
