Nursing Education

Resources Offered by West Jefferson Medical Center

The Education Department at West Jefferson Medical Center offers a wide range of continuing education opportunities to fit your needs, including ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and LPN IV Therapy certifications among others. The Education Department is committed to meeting the educational needs of nurses, nursing students, and others in the healthcare industry. Our classes are delivered by nurses who have a combined experience of over 100 years.

We can offer day, evening, and weekend experiences to meet the needs of nursing student clinical rotations. Although not every nursing student will seek job opportunities at WJMC, we would like to take part in the education of students to enhance their knowledge and improve the nursing profession as a whole. When new graduates are hired at WJMC, the education department provides extensive training during orientation by offering a Nurse Residency Program and Orientation Skills Lab experience. Following orientation, the new hire is then matched with a preceptor on the unit. Competencies are demonstrated, and the preceptor continues one-on-one individualized training until the nurse feels confident in their clinical and time management skills to care for their assigned patients.
