“ Kevin Dotson Department of Public Safety Lieutenant ...”

Kevin Dotson

Department of Public Safety Lieutenant (Supervisor), University Medical Center New Orleans

Branch of Military: United States Marine Corps

Role in the military: Open Contact / Administration

Years served: 1990 – 1994

Did your military career influence your career choice? "Upon graduating from high school, I decided to join the United States Marine Corps. I had originally wanted to be a Military Police Officer, however, I had to be 19 years old, and at the time I was only 18. In order to get into the United States Marine Corps, my Recruiter at the time suggested going Open Contract. Open Contract allows the United States Marine Corps to choose the job I will be doing. My Recruiter convinced me that after Boot Camp and job training that I could move to the job I had originally wanted.

After getting out of the United States Marine Corp in 1994, and a few job paths and career choice changes, I became part of the UMCNO Department of Public Safety. I intend to finish out my career here and hope to one day retire from UMCNO."
