At University Medical Center New Orleans, we believe that those who serve our community deserve the very best in care. That’s why we’re proud to introduce a new initiative designed specifically for the heroes who keep our city safe every day: the First Responder Clinic.
This program is built with one mission in mind — to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and tailored for members of the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD), New Orleans Emergency Medical Services (NOEMS), Orleans Parish Communication District (OPCD) and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO).
“Our first responders are the backbone of public safety and emergency response in our city,” said Charlotte Parent, Vice President of Business Development at UMC. “It’s our civic duty to ensure they have access to the care they need, when they need it. This clinic is a reflection of our deep commitment to those who dedicate their lives to protecting our community.”
Designed for Those on the Front Lines
The First Responder Clinic will be housed at UMC’s Primary Care Building at 2003 Tulane Avenue. Understanding the demanding schedules of first responders, the clinic has been designed to minimize wait times and provide fast-track access to care. Appointments can be scheduled up to seven days in advance, with dedicated time slots for first responders.
“The New Orleans Fire Department is pleased that University Medical Center New Orleans is providing this innovative First Responder Clinic,” said Superintendent Roman Nelson of the NOFD. “We are grateful for UMC’s unwavering support and look forward to the many services this clinic will offer to our brave first responders.”
What Services Will Be Offered?
The First Responder Clinic offers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Preventive care like annual checkups, vaccinations, and screenings
- Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses
- Chronic disease management
- Care coordination to ensure patients receive the right follow-up and support
- Referrals to specialists, when more advanced care is needed
Whether it’s a routine visit or a sudden health concern, this clinic ensures first responders receive the care they deserve — quickly and compassionately.
A Stronger, Healthier Community
At UMC, we see this new clinic not just as a healthcare service, but as a way of saying thank you. Our first responders show up for us, in emergencies, during disasters, and in our everyday lives. It’s time we show up for them, too.
We’re proud to stand behind the people who stand in front of us, always ready, always strong.
