Community outreach and events

Our reach extends beyond the walls of the Burn Center, offering psychosocial support for our NOLA neighbors and education and training for medical professionals in the Gulf South.

Outreach

As a leader in advanced research, education, and outreach, our faculty help train and educate first responders, emergency departments, urgent care centers, and primary care providers all around the Gulf South. We offer clinical training across healthcare specialties and share groundbreaking research worldwide.

Burn Survivor support groups

We believe healing shouldn’t be done alone. The Burn Survivor Support Group is open to all burn survivors and their loved ones at any stage of recovery. Our goal is to facilitate connection and provide a safe space to share stories and offer support as we heal.

Virtual meetings are held from 3–4 pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Registration is free. More information is available on our Event Details page.

We also work closely with the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors, a national organization offering tools, support, and guidance for burn injury survivors and their loved ones. Find events, resources, and news at Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors.

Burn Survivor Reunion

Sponsored by the Spirit of Charity Foundation, the Burn Center Reunion is a celebration of burn survivors and the community that cared for them.

Guests will include burn survivors and their families, the UMC and Manning Family Children's Burn Center teams, first responders, community leaders, and sponsors.
