Preparing for surgery

Your surgical care team makes sure you know what’s up before, during, and after surgery. Before surgery, we do preoperative evaluations. You may have an imaging test or blood draw, so we can find the best surgical approach for you.

You’ll get instructions on how to prepare for your surgery. For example, some surgeries require you to fast (stop eating at a certain time) beforehand.

Your team also provides guidance on recovery after surgery. You’ll know all about pain management, physical therapy options, and follow-up appointments. But if you have questions—just ask.
