Panda Cares Foundation donates more than $110,000 in PPE to LCMC Health

New Orleans, LA – Through its ongoing support of Children’s Hospital New Orleans and its partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network, the Panda Cares Foundation presented LCMC Health with more than 35,000 surgical masks during Hospital Week. The donation’s value exceeded $110,000.

Panda Cares is the philanthropic arm of Panda Restaurant Group (PRG), which owns and manages Panda Express restaurants nationwide. The non-profit is committed to serving the communities in which they operate restaurants by providing food, funding, and volunteer services to underserved youth and disaster relief efforts.

Representatives from PRG delivered the face masks to representatives from LCMC Health, to be used across the five hospitals in the healthcare system.

In accepting the initial shipment of masks on behalf of LCMC Health, Joe Thibodaux, Vice-President of Supply Chain remarked on the value of such a donation. LCMC Health’s Supply Chain has been tasked with obtaining and maintaining the healthcare system’s ongoing supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

“Of the many lessons we have all learned in recent months, it is the immeasurable importance of PPE,” said Thibodaux. “Surgical masks being one of the crucial items for protecting our healthcare teams, doctors, nurses, lab workers, pharmacy workers, rehabilitation teams, our environmental services teams, administrators, food service staff, and our patients. PPE saves lives.”
