About Dr. MacRae

I am a pulmonary and critical care physician with specialized expertise in bronchiectasis and nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease, including Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) and Mycobacterium abscessus. As Director of the LSU-UMC Bronchiectasis & NTM Program, I provide comprehensive, individualized care for patients living with these complex lung conditions.

I care for patients with bronchiectasis and NTM from across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, including those with difficult-to-treat or complex disease. I take a personalized approach to care, beginning with a careful evaluation of the underlying causes of bronchiectasis. Treatment may include airway clearance, management of recurrent infections and coordination with other specialists when needed.

In addition to caring for patients, I am actively involved in bronchiectasis and NTM research, clinical trials and national professional activities focused on improving care for people with these conditions. I also enjoy teaching medical students, residents, and pulmonary and critical care fellows at LSU Health New Orleans.
