Lakeview regional recognized for outstanding record in patient safety

Lakeview Hospital , a campus of Tulane Medical Center, was awarded an “A” rating from the Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital quality watchdog. The top grade recognizes Lakeview Regional’s ability to prevent medical errors, injuries, and infections that kill or harm patients. Only 32% of hospitals in the U.S. achieved an “A” grade.

“Receiving this ‘A’ grade in safety requires a tremendous amount of commitment from Lakeview Regional physicians and staff that reflects the high priority we place on patient care,” said Hiral Patel, Lakeview Regional CEO. “I commend our team for their dedication and integrity in reaching this achievement.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns a grade to all general hospitals across the country every six months and is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospitals’ prevention of medical errors and other harms to patients in their care. Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are accessible to the public.
