LRMC and the Junior league of Greater Covington host annual girls health day

Lakeview Hospital , a campus of Tulane Medical Center, in collaboration with the Junior League of Greater Covington, will host their annual Girls Health Day on Saturday, April 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Lakeview Regional campus.

This year’s fair aims to educate girls on topics related to health and social issues, with relevant talks and demonstrations on internet safety, dangers of vaping, ongoing fitness instructions, skin care, puberty and changes to expect, mental health, embracing your uniqueness, healthy eating, and human trafficking. The theme “Be Healthy. Be Happy. Be You.” inspires girls to promote healthy, positive behaviors.

“We are thrilled to work with Lakeview Hospital to provide the girls in our community with a strong foundation as they become young women,” said Laney Robein, Junior League of Greater Covington’s President. “This event, geared for girls 8 to 14, is an excellent way to connect with your teenager or pre-teen while they learn valuable, and maybe even life-saving, lessons.”

Participants can take advantage of free health screenings, including blood pressure assessments, knee and scoliosis screenings, BMI measurements, posture screens, dental hygiene, and vision screenings. The girls can also be a “Doctor for the Day” by experiencing a simulated surgery activity. Door prizes and giveaways will be available to all attendees. In addition, the Blood Center’s Blood Mobile will be on-site for adults to donate blood.
