WJ Hospital Foundation/Local Businesses Underwrite HOPE FLOAT for Cancer Patients

What: It’s the Westbank community’s first ever Hope Float – a Cancer Awareness float. The float is mostly pink with a little touch of blue for breast cancer awareness and awareness of all cancers.
When: The Hope Float will debut on February 2 at Noon.
Where: Krewe of Alla parade on the Westbank
Why: The West Jefferson Hospital Foundation with help of local businesses is underwriting the float. We also have some throws from the Cancer Center. Patients and their loved ones are also bringing their personal throws in the spirit of the season.
For some patients and their family member, it’s their first ride in a Mardi Grad parade. They could not be more excited!
For parade-goers, we’re asking that those lining the parade route give a shout out of “Hope, Hope, Hope”. This was a suggestions made by one of our cancer patients. We believe the shout‐outs will go a long and loving way to let our patients know how much their special ride on the Hope Float also means to others.
Patients also expressed that they believe the Hope Float will help increase cancer awareness and encourage others who have a diagnosis of cancer or perhaps are newly diagnosed.
Parade-goers might catch one of many special inaugural throws including Hope Float memorabilia like doubloons (the silver medallion has a graphic of the float, the date and the inscription “Infusion Hope, Improving Lives” which our Cancer Center at West Jeff is so very proud of); personalized clappers; personalized back scratchers; a light up necklace; a light‐weight hot pink stress ball; and bright pink megaphones).
