Robert Calhoun Named President and CEO of West Jefferson Medical Center

Marrero, La – West Jefferson Medical Center is pleased to announce Rob Calhoun as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. Calhoun brings more than 16 years of healthcare leadership experience to West Jefferson Medical Center, a 419-bed community hospital in Marrero, Louisiana.

“Rob brings a wealth of leadership experience to his role as CEO, and clearly understands how important West Jefferson Medical Center is to the community,” said Greg Feirn, CEO of LCMC Health. “I am confident that he will serve the staff and patients extremely well. With a $75 million investment in the campus, Rob is poised to lead during a very exciting time for the hospital and the community.”

Calhoun most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Merit Health Biloxi, a 198-bed for-profit hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi. In that role, he led the recruitment of 25 new providers joining the medical staff, and spearheaded initiatives increasing access points and physician and employee engagement, initiatives leading to zero serious safety events over two years, and a 21 percent reduction in nursing turnover.

Calhoun’s healthcare career began at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina as an administrative resident. He went on to serve in numerous leadership positions at hospitals and medical centers, including Select Specialty Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, serving as Chief Executive Officer; Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly, Missouri, serving as Assistant Chief Executive Officer; Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, Kentucky, serving as Chief Executive Officer; and Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia, serving as Chief Executive Officer.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Clemson University, and a Master in Health Administration from Medical University of South Carolina. In his capacity with West Jefferson Medical Center, Calhoun will report to Bill Masterton, CEO, Adult Hospital Market.
