West Jefferson Medical Center celebrates completion of endoscopy suite and phase 1 of new emergency department

Marrero, LA, February 2021 – West Jefferson Medical Center held a ribbon-cutting, celebrating the completion of phase one of the Emergency Department and Endoscopy Suite. In partnership with LCMC Health, the newly designed spaces are a result of a $90 million investment that will create an unmatched patient experience for families of the Westbank community.

When seeking emergency care, patients can expect a first-class facility complete with a covered drop-off area, a modernized and spacious waiting room, a designated “fast-track” triage and treatment area, and state-of-the-art patient rooms – all intended to enhance the efficiency of care and to reduce overall wait times. Our Emergency Department is the only Westbank facility offering unparalleled pediatric, adult, and senior emergency care.

Conveniently located on Medical Center Boulevard, the Endoscopy suite now has a new home for outpatient and inpatient procedures. The beautifully constructed area is a stand-alone building with easy, direct access from an onsite parking lot. It has doubled in its current capacity with six procedure rooms and 15 private recovery rooms. Patients can expect the most advanced care and equipment for both complex and routine procedures.

“From minor procedures to the most urgent medical emergencies, the nearly 10,000 square foot renovated facility will allow our physicians to deliver the highest quality of patient-centered care possible,” says President and Chief Executive Officer of West Jefferson Medical Center, Rob Calhoun. “This endeavor strengthens our mission to meet the healthcare needs of our patients, and it makes us one step closer to revolutionizing the way we deliver extraordinary care.”

West Jefferson Medical Center is currently undergoing a major campus transformation that focuses on some of the most critical healthcare areas of the hospital. This phased expansion was developed to address the long-term and urgent health needs of the community.

“Our momentum to enhance the patient experience will only accelerate from here,” says Rob Calhoun. “West Jefferson Medical Center has served many generations and our commitment to creating a comfortable, convenient care environment will only ensure the health and wellbeing of generations to come.”
