I am deeply disappointed with my experience with Dr. Thomas Babin at LCMC Pediatrics in Destrehan. My son, who is normally seen by Dr. Remedios (whom we absolutely love), was seen by Dr. Babin today due to her being out. My son has been struggling with severe symptoms-he hasn't eaten in over 24 hours, is experiencing diarrhea, and has a cough and runny nose. I explained all of his symptoms in detail, but Dr. Babin chose not to run any tests on him. Instead, he prescribed cough medicine that we already had at home and advised me to give my son a probiotic. When I requested tests for flu, COVID, and RSV, Dr. Babin responded dismissively, saying that most parents avoid testing for flu because they don't want to give their child the "nasty medicine" associated with it. He also stated that there is nothing to be done for COVID even if my son tested positive, yet still suggested I let the nurse know my decision. To make matters worse, Dr. Babin left the room with the door open and proceeded to make what seemed to be an inappropriate comment about either me or my child at the nurses' station. This was confirmed by the nurse when I asked. When I saw Dr. Babin in the hallway, I asked him to come back into the room to address my concerns, but he refused. I then told him I did not appreciate his comment, and his response was repeatedly asking, "What did I say?" without ever denying that he had said anything negative. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and dismissed during this entire interaction. I was simply trying to advocate for my son's well-being and ensure he received the necessary care, yet Dr. Babin's actions made me feel belittled and disrespected. I've never had an issue with Dr. Remedios or the nursing staff at this practice-they are always professional, welcoming, and attentive. Unfortunately, Dr. Babin's behavior was in stark contrast to the level of care and compassion I've come to expect at LCMC Pediatrics. I hope my experience serves as constructive feedback so that others do not have to feel the same way I did today.

Dr. Babin was thorough and extremely helpful, he shared his knowledge in a kind and caring way and was patient with my quite fussy sick baby. I appreciated his advice and care.
