Statement Regarding Incident at University Medical Center

University Medical Center, LCMC Health, can confirm that an incident involving a gun discharge occurred outside the Emergency Department at approximately 11:30 a.m. today. No members of the UMC staff were injured. It appears that the incident was the result of an altercation that began off-campus. No hospital personnel or patients were a target. The hospital’s Public Safety team is working closely with the New Orleans Police Department in its investigation.

The hospital is not on lockdown at this time and patients can access the Emergency Room.
