Helping the New Orleans Community Practice Safe Habits
Helping the New Orleans Community Practice Safe Habits
At University Medical Center New Orleans, our commitment to caring for our community extends far beyond the walls of the hospital. As a trusted healthcare partner and Level I Trauma Center, we believe preventing injury, strengthening community resilience, and supporting the professionals who care for our neighbors are essential parts of our mission.
Many serious injuries are preventable. Through our Community Injury Prevention programs, University Medical Center New Orleans works with individuals, families, schools, community organizations, first responders, and other partners to provide practical education and resources designed to help people stay safe.
Our programming addresses injury prevention needs across the lifespan and may include topics such as:
- Fall prevention
- Motor vehicle and roadway safety
- Stop the Bleed® and bleeding control education
- Burn injury prevention & kitchen safety
- Seasonal and emerging community safety concerns
Programs can be tailored to meet the needs of community groups and partner organizations, helping bring meaningful injury prevention education directly to the people we serve. University Medical Center’s Injury Prevention program offers presentations on topics such as summer safety, Mardi Gras, seat belt, travel and roadway safety, and preventing falls among senior citizens. Call 504.702.2295 or 504.702.2296 for additional information about any of these programs or to arrange a presentation.
