Volunteer auxiliary appreciation luncheon and installation of new board members

Lakeview Regional exteriorLakeview Hospital hosted its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Benedict’s Plantation, Mandeville, Louisiana, honoring their 76 devoted volunteers who have worked a total of 21,400 hours. Along with presenting the volunteers with pins for service hours served, each volunteer received a gift from LRMC. Installation of the new auxiliary officers was conducted by Bret Kolman, CEO. New board members for the LRMC Volunteer Auxiliary include: Kathy Gibbs, President; Antionette Weatherly, Vice President; Catherine Rish, Treasurer; Viola Dickson, Secretary; and Jerry Lambert, Past President.

At the luncheon, donations were presented to various charities here within St. Tammany Parish voted on by the volunteer auxiliary. Donations were presented to these charities from the volunteer auxiliary’s various fundraisers throughout the year and profits from “The Duck’s Nest” gift shop, which is operated by the volunteer auxiliary. Charities receiving donations from the LRMC Volunteer Auxiliary were: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation- Louisiana Chapter; St. Tammany Children’s Advocacy Center/Hope House; Northshore Food Bank; Pennies for Bread; Safe Harbor – Northshore; Seniors & Law Enforcement Together – SALT; STOPS (St. Tammany Outreach for Prevention of Suicide); St. Tammany Humane Society; Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans – RSVP – St. Tammany Parish; and Youth Services Bureau. Other charities receiving donations throughout the year include Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, Holy Trinity Church, NAMI, Special Olympics, and Wounded War Heroes. The total amount donated by the Volunteer Auxiliary Lakeview Hospital was $23,296.00. In the past 14 years the auxiliary has donated a total of $389,000.00 to over 45 different local charities. One charity (Pennies for Bread) has received a donation every year.
