Newly-Created Position Supports LCMC Health’s Continued Growth as a System

New Orleans, LA – LCMC Health is making leadership advancements to support its continued growth as a health system. Bill Masterton, has been promoted to Market CEO where he will oversee the operational and financial performance of the system’s four adult hospitals. As the second-highest-ranking executive at LCMC Health, Bill will provide leadership and direction for the continued success of these hospitals, playing an instrumental role in the overall success of the LCMC Health System.

“LCMC Health is well-positioned for continued success and focused on what is most important to our organization and people – providing exceptional patient care and a great place to work,” said Greg Feirn, LCMC Health CEO, in announcing Bill’s appointment. “Bill has proven management and leadership skills and we will now utilize his talents to continue to move our system forward.”

Prior to his promotion, Masterton was the President and Chief Executive Officer of University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC) from June 1, 2016, to December 31, 2018. Today, the hospital serves as a state-of-the-art $1.1 billion facility that is becoming an epicenter for medical care, healthcare education, and research. Under his tenure, UMC opened a Burn Center, the only one associated with an ACS Level 1 Trauma program in the region, expanded access with a primary care center, and added new services including a TAVR program, HIPEC Surgical Therapy, and Surgical Weight Loss. This growth enabled UMC to add roughly 900 jobs, 22 new physician faculty, and 29 new Residents and Fellows.

“I am so excited about the future of LCMC Health,” said Masterton. “I am thankful that the LCMC Health Board and CEO, Greg Feirn, have permitted me the opportunity to expand my contributions beyond UMC to the mission of all its adult hospitals.”

Masterton’s expertise was developed during the 20+ years he has spent working in healthcare – specifically, his substantial experience in hospital operations and finance. His background includes CEO roles at Piedmont Medical Center and Coastal Carolina Hospital, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer roles at Atlanta Medical Center, and various other hospital financial roles. Masterton is adept at hospital financial planning, critical thinking, and long-term healthcare strategy development/implementation. He is passionate about serving a physician-led organization, increasing patient satisfaction and improving healthcare quality through compliance with evidence-based medicine, reducing inefficiencies to grow earnings, and creating an excellent academic experience to develop the next generation of physicians.
