Berje H. Shammassian, MD

About Dr. Shammassian

Dr. Berje Shammassian graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Alpha Omega Alpha and Summa Cum Laude. He was awarded the Balder Scholarship Award as the graduating senior with the highest academic standing. During residency, he sought to grow into a successful academic surgeon by completing a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. There, he was awarded an International Travel Fund Field Placement Award, was a Public Health Practice Award Finalist, and was inducted into the Delta Omega Honors Society, in addition to completing a Surgical Outcomes Mentoring Track. 

In addition to his scholarly work, he also demonstrated an enthusiasm for medical education throughout his training. He was the first intern in the history of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine to obtain an Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award, as nominated by medical students. During his Neurocritical Care Fellowship, he was awarded Fellow of the Year as selected by residents.
