Lakeview Hospital uses advanced testing to detect any issues or problems. These tests could include:

Prenatal screenings for the mother:

  • Blood pressure
  • Blood tests for type and Rh factor
  • Microbiological examinations for infections
  • Psychological Aspects of Screening
  • Urine tests

Prenatal screenings for the baby:

  • Chorionic Villi Screening (CVS – Transabdominal)
  • Chorionic Villi Screening (CVS – Transcervical)
  • Maternal Serum Alpha-Fetoprotein (MSAFP)
  • Non-stress Test (NST)/Biophysical Profile (BPP)
  • Nuchal Translucency (NT)

Ultrasound screenings are used to detect:

  • Number of babies
  • Age of the baby
  • Size and rate of growth
  • Heart rate, breathing, position and movement
  • Location of the placenta
  • Amount of amniotic fluid present
  • Certain types of birth defects (heart, head, chest, spine, limbs)
  • Blood flow
  • Ectopic pregnancy
  • Causes of bleeding or pain
