About Dr. Byrne
I am a native of Washington, DC, and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Cellular Neuroscience at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. After college, I conducted health policy research in orthopedics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital before earning a Master of Science in Physiology. I moved to New Orleans to attend medical school at Tulane University, where I met my husband, a St. Bernard Parish native.
I remained at Tulane for my Internal Medicine residency, graduating with distinction in Program Administration and Leadership in Clinical Education. I now serve as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of General Internal Medicine and work as an academic hospitalist at Tulane Medical Center and University Medical Center of New Orleans. In addition, I am the Director of Student Programs for the Department of Medicine, where I oversee the Core Internal Medicine Clerkship.
I have also contributed to the Tulane Internal Medicine Residency by co-leading board preparation and review, and I continue to enjoy working closely with residents on the wards. My professional interests include medical education and healthcare provider wellness.
