Kelly L. Babineaux, MD

About Dr. Babineaux

My passion for surgery began in childhood after my cousin, who was also 6 at the time, underwent a craniotomy for medulloblastoma. That early exposure to neurosurgery sparked a lifelong fascination with the mystery, precision, and almost miraculous nature of what happens behind the doors of the operating room.

I chose hand surgery because I am fascinated with all of the tiny, intricate, and complex things within hands. The Sesame Street song "Hands" by Count Von Count sums up why I chose hand surgery. "But hands, just mention hands and my heart sings. For hands can do so many many things" – and I love using mine to help others heal and regain function.

For the past 15 years, I’ve been proud to serve patients at LSU Health New Orleans and UMCNO. My goal is to restore hand function so patients can continue doing the things they love with the most amazing and complex tools we have—our HANDS!
