About Dr. Marrouche

I joined Tulane University, School of Medicine in 2019 and I am the Director of the Tulane University Heart and Vascular Institute (TUHVI). I currently serve as Executive Director of Tulane Research Innovation for Arrhythmias Discoveries (TRIAD), an initiative launched to unite a multidisciplinary team of physicians, scientists, researchers, and computer scientists to advance innovation in arrhythmia care. I work closely with hospitals across LCMC Health to expand access to advanced electrophysiology, cardiac imaging, and comprehensive heart and vascular services for patients throughout our region.

I earned my medical degree from Heidelberg University in Germany. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Klinikum Coburg, a teaching hospital of the University of Wurzburg, followed by fellowships in electrophysiology at the University of California, San Francisco and the Cleveland Clinic.

I previously served on the faculty at the Cleveland Clinic and was appointed Head of the Electrophysiology Labs and the Atrial Fibrillation Program at the University of Utah, where I founded the Comprehensive Arrhythmia Management Center. There, my team and I collaborated to develop the groundbreaking Utah Classification System, now used by medical centers worldwide. This innovative approach leverages 3D delayed-enhancement MRI to identify a patient’s stage of fibrosis, helping guide atrial fibrillation screening, diagnosis, staging, and personalized therapy.
