About Dr. Culicchia
I'm Dr. Frank Culicchia, a second-generation neurosurgeon carrying on the legacy of my father, Dr. Carl Culicchia, who founded Culicchia Neurological Clinic in 1961. Over the years, I’ve helped grow our practice into one of the largest neurosurgery groups in the region and currently lead the neurosurgery team at West Jefferson Medical Center—ranked among the top 10% in the nation by Healthgrades.
Following Hurricane Katrina, I was honored to serve as Chair of Neurosurgery at LSU Health Sciences Center, where I helped establish a long-standing partnership that allows LSU residents to train at West Jefferson. I continue to teach and mentor the next generation of neurosurgeons as a clinical professor at both LSU and Tulane and have served as Residency Program Director, developing curriculum and leading academic conferences.
My clinical focus includes stroke, brain tumors, aneurysms, and other complex vascular conditions. I’m proud to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top neurosurgeons, named a Top Doctor by New Orleans Magazine, and honored as a Healthcare Hero by CityBusiness.
I've dedicated my career to advancing neurological care and am honored to be recognized as one of the nation's top neurosurgeons by U.S News and World Report and as a Top Doctor by New Orleans Magazine in 2020.
My little something extra
Above all, I’m committed to delivering exceptional care to patients and advancing the field of neurosurgery through research, innovation, and education.
