About Dr. Chaffin

I am a double board certified plastic surgeon at Tulane University. I earned my medical degree from Wayne State University, where I also completed my General Surgery residency in 2006 and became board certified by the American Board of Surgery. I then pursued a two-year Plastic Surgery fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine, completing my training in 2008, and went on to achieve board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. That same year, I joined the Tulane University Plastic Surgery faculty full time.

My clinical interests include breast reconstruction after breast cancer, complex wound and burn care (including wound reconstructive surgery), abdominal hernia reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, burn reconstruction, and general reconstructive plastic surgery.

In addition to my work in plastic surgery, I am also a wound medicine specialist. I am one of only a few physicians in Louisiana who is a Certified Wound Care Specialist Physician. I am a Fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association, a Diplomate of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery, and I currently serve as the Medical Director of the MedCentris Wound Healing Institute at Tulane. I have particular expertise in surgically reconstructing complex wounds such as decubitus ulcers, venous and other leg ulcers, and hidradenitis suppurativa.
