Amy E. Vaughan, MD

About Dr. Vaughan

I am an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and currently serve as the OB/GYN Assistant Residency Program Director at Tulane. I grew up in Largo, FL, and studied biology at Wofford College in South Carolina before coming to Tulane Medical School, where I earned a Master of Science in Pharmacology. I went on to complete my MD and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane, serving as Chief Resident in my senior year.

After residency, I spent eight years in private practice in the New Orleans area while also volunteering as faculty for Tulane residents. I later practiced at Ochsner Hospital and Clinic as an OB/GYN Hospitalist for four years, working closely with patients and residents in the inpatient setting.

As a breast cancer survivor, I am deeply passionate about helping patients achieve their best health. My areas of interest include obstetrics—supporting safe and satisfying deliveries—menopause and hormone therapy, and simulation training. I also welcome patients who choose a holistic approach to pregnancy and birth, including collaboration with doulas. Alongside my clinical work, I remain active in both resident and student education while maintaining a private practice at Tulane-Lakeside Hospital.

I am board certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and am an active member of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists (SOGH).

My little something extra

I live in New Orleans with my husband, Dr. Ross Klingsberg, our three children, and one tiny dog. We love music, Francophone culture, outdoor festivals, and biking!
