Amy V. Prudhomme, DO

About Dr. Prudhomme

I am an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Hospital Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, where I also serve as a Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics at Tulane University School of Medicine. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree, with a minor in Spanish, at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and went on to complete my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. I then completed my pediatric internship and residency at LSUHSC, where I developed a passion for hospital medicine and medical education.

Since joining LSUHSC as faculty in 2015, I have been deeply involved in medical student and resident education, serving in clerkship leadership roles and helping to design and implement innovative curricula. My research interests include the Pediatric Early Warning Scoring (PEWS) system, grading assessment tools, implicit bias in medicine, and educational strategies. I have presented my work nationally at COMSEP and other conferences, and I am a contributor to the upcoming third edition of Zaoutis’ and Chiang’s Comprehensive Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

In addition to teaching and research, I serve on several hospital and departmental committees, including the Student Clinical Promotions Committee (Chair), the Resident Recruitment Committee, and the Pediatric Early Warning System Implementation Committee, where I serve as Physician Champion. My work in these areas reflects my dedication to advancing pediatric education, supporting learners, and improving patient care.
