Bruce A. Barron, MD

About Dr. Barron

Health is essential, and becoming a physician has allowed me to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I’ve always found the eye to be the most beautiful and fascinating part of the body, which drew me to ophthalmology—a field that combines medical management, surgery, and ever-evolving technology to serve patients of all ages. My entire career has been devoted to academic ophthalmology at LSU, where I’ve had the privilege of training more than 250 residents and 50 fellows. I’m deeply committed to continuing that legacy of education and excellence. Guided by the Hippocratic Oath and the Golden Rule, I strive to treat every patient with the same care, respect, and compassion I would offer to myself or a loved one.

My little something extra
Keeping physically fit is one of my top priorities—I start each day with a four-mile walk and enjoy jogging, swimming, weight training, yoga, and gardening. I also love learning something new every day, which makes Jeopardy! my favorite show. Outside of fitness, I’m passionate about the arts—visual, musical, and theatrical—and I’m an avid history and genealogy enthusiast.
