Whether you’re having a planned outpatient procedure or a more complex
surgery that requires a hospital stay, Touro provides a wide range of
surgical services supported by experienced physicians, nurses, and care teams.
Our surgical teams use minimally invasive techniques, robotic-assisted
technology, and other advanced approaches when appropriate to help provide
safe, effective care while supporting recovery and helping patients return
to their daily lives.
From preparing for your procedure through surgery and recovery, our goal
is to make your experience as comfortable and easy to navigate as possible.
Surgical services and specialties
Touro provides inpatient and outpatient surgical care across a range of
specialties, including:
Depending on the type of procedure and your individual health needs, surgical
care may take place in Touro’s main hospital operating rooms or
in an outpatient setting, including the Touro Outpatient Surgery Center.
Outpatient surgery
For many procedures, patients can safely return home the same day rather
than stay overnight in the hospital.
The newly expanded
Touro Outpatient Surgery Center provides a dedicated setting for same-day surgical care. Located on the
campus of Touro and connected to the main hospital, the center combines
the convenience and comfort of an outpatient setting with access to Touro’s
hospital-based resources if a higher level of care is needed.
The expanded center includes six operating rooms and 15 pre- and post-operative
bays, with more private spaces designed to make the surgical experience
easier for patients and their support persons.
When appropriate, Touro surgeons use minimally invasive techniques that
can allow procedures to be performed through smaller incisions than traditional
open surgery.
Touro also offers robotic-assisted surgical technology for certain procedures.
These systems can provide surgeons with enhanced visualization and precision
while the surgeon guides each movement throughout the procedure.
Da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery
Touro offers Da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery for certain gynecologic,
urologic, thoracic, and digestive procedures. Depending on the procedure
and patient, minimally invasive surgery may offer benefits such as smaller
incisions, less blood loss, less pain, and a shorter recovery.
Knowing what to expect can make your surgical experience easier to navigate.
From pre-admission testing and check-in to recovery and discharge, your
care team will help you understand how to prepare and what to expect before,
during, and after your procedure.
