About Dr. Bhandutia
I’m a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery. I grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania and graduated from the prestigious accelerated BS-MD program through Penn State and Jefferson Medical College. I completed my residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, followed by two fellowships in spine surgery—first at the University of Maryland Medical Center in partnership with the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and then at the Spine and Spinal Cord Injury Fellowship at Case Western University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Before joining the academic faculty at Louisiana State University, I practiced in a multi-specialty orthopedic surgery group in New Jersey.
I chose orthopedic surgery because I believe in the fundamental importance of human motion. Preserving and restoring mobility is central to a person’s independence and quality of life, and that belief drives my work every day. I also believe in treating all patients like my family—approaching each case with empathy, respect, and compassion.
Guided by my mentors, I practice evidence-based medicine and focus on performing the least invasive procedures that offer the greatest benefit. For me, the most rewarding aspect of medicine is helping people return to their best possible function. I take great pride in seeing patients regain their mobility and confidence.
I care for a wide range of spinal conditions, including degenerative disorders, radiculopathy, myelopathy, spinal cord compression, tumors, deformities, and complex cases requiring revision surgery. I’m also actively involved in resident education and am passionate about training the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
My little something extra:
I enjoy staying physically active and love to be challenged. Not only does it give me great fulfillment, but I believe it helps me take better care of my patients. I also enjoy eating spicy food!
