A little over two years ago, East Jefferson General Hospital began a new chapter focused on bringing next-level care to the communities we’ve served for generations. Since then…well, we’ve been busy.
- East Jeff is now an Academic Center of Excellence, welcoming Tulane School of Medicine, along with more than a thousand new providers, researchers, residents, and staff members.
- Our campus has received major upgrades, part of a $216 million investment made by LCMC Health that has seen our Emergency Department expanded and modernized, new critical care units, clinics, and operating rooms.
- We’ve become a hub of advanced medicine, specialty care, and innovation, where the brightest minds in medicine are advancing research that’s advancing treatment.
A little over two years ago, we said East Jeff was ready to provide next level care, but the next level was never the destination. It was only the beginning. Today’s East Jeff is healthcare on a higher level.

Our purpose is our patients
The activity and excitement at East Jeff isn’t about change for the sake of change. It’s an exciting time because of what it means for the people in our care. We’re treating more patients than ever before. The numbers are impressive, but perhaps more meaningful are the stories of individual patients who are being helped, many of them in ways never before seen on our campus. Here’s a few of them:

Since January 2024 East Jeff has welcomed new team members and new capabilities, including:

- Bone marrow transplant
- Tulane Transplant Institute
- Neuroscience ICU
- Surgical ICU
- 15 new clinics
- 3 newly renovated interventional procedure rooms
- 9 new operating rooms
- 1,900 medical providers (increased by 300%)
