About Dr. Ahuja

I specialize in Cancer Care as a Hematologist and Oncologist. Cancer is very personal for me as I lost a brother who was only 27 to a very aggressive and rare brain tumor. It was during my Internal medicine residency that I had to juggle the role of being a sister/ daughter and ‘doctor of the house’ while translating medical information from my brother's cancer care team to the rest of my family- all the while hoping to somehow shield them from the harshness of it all. It was the most difficult experience of my life, but it made me a better person and a better doctor. I realize the impact a cancer diagnosis can have- not just on a patient, but on their caregivers as well. Every day that I go to work, it is not lost upon me what a privilege it is for me to be able to do this with my life.

As oncologists, we are allowed into a person’s life at their most vulnerable time, and we are trusted. A cancer diagnosis can seem scary, but it does not have to be. When I first meet my patients, I want them to be able to clearly understand their disease diagnosis and all available treatment options. I want to be able to provide my patients with the best possible care, while balancing their individual needs and goals, and being respectful of their wishes.

My ‘little something extra’:

I am from India and my husband is from Argentina and we both love good food, so it’s no surprise that we ended up in New Orleans. We love creating new fusion recipes and cooking for our families whenever they visit.

Dr. Ahuja was friendly, kind, she was on time. I'm not going to say I would love to see her again in the future because I don't want cancer again, but I enjoyed her company. Thank you.

Shradha Ahuja is quite simply one of the best doctors I've ever had in any specialty and especially because I'm a woman who suffered breast cancer. She makes me feel heard. She makes me feel intelligent. She actually makes me feel more like I'm talking with a friend. I cannot, cannot, cannot say anything bad about this woman. She is the most incredible doctor I've ever met. Funny, lighthearted, brilliant. She can explain the most complicated things to me very simply. I'm a scientist and she's still willing to break it down for me. This woman is amazing. She's amazing. She's amazing and I love her.
