About Dr. Kim
I conducted my PhD research at the University of Michigan and the University of Padova (Italy) and completed my postdoctoral training at the University of Minnesota. I currently work with University Medical Center and Manning Family Children’s Hospital, both part of LCMC Health. I am a member of the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium and the founder of a spin-out company focused on personalizing medicine through protein and structural biomarkers.
I lead a collaborative, multi-lab nanomotor research program that integrates fundamental discovery with translational impact. My research centers on motor proteins, ATP hydrolysis, and the design principles of kinesin nanomotors, with applications in anticancer therapies and screening candidate drugs for infectious diseases. I am also committed to applying these approaches to better understand and address gastrointestinal disease in pre-term infants. I serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Biological Chemistry and have published more than 28 peer-reviewed papers. In addition, I have held a variety of administrative roles at the departmental, institutional, and state levels, as well as elected leadership positions in national scientific societies.
