Fire Incident 11.22.25: Update #2
The hospital has been assessed for damage and we plan to return to normal operations at 8pm this evening. Patients that were relocated will be moving back to their original units. The fire started in the kitchen and caused damage to dining services. Dining services will be limited until remediation occurs. We will be working with UMC on providing meals to patients in the interim. Touros Cafe will be closed until further notice. All other hospital areas remain operational. We will continue to communicate further updates as they become available.
Fire Incident 11.22.25: Update #1
The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a fire that occurred this afternoon at Touro. Out of an abundance of caution, all affected patients have been safely evacuated. At this time, every patient, staff member and visitor is safe and no injuries. The fire is contained, and our teams are working in full coordination with the Fire department, which is on site.
Touro’s Emergency Department is open to walk-ins, but EMS is being rerouted to other hospitals. In an abundance of caution, all NICU babies, along with support staff, are being transported to Manning Family Children’s.
